Aquaculture School
Our friends at the Bridgeport Regional Aquaculture School offer exciting programs to high school students including boat building, marine engineering, and aquaculture. Green technology in the maritime field has become a major focus of the school as demonstrated by the completion of a solar powered battery charging system.
To bring the classroom to the Sound, the school owns several research vessels including the 56’ “Kaye Williams”. Named after Captain’s Cove founder, the vessel is a platform from which the students can take lessons learned in class to a working maritime environment. Just off the coast at Southport the school maintains a farm on which the students grow kelp.
Seafood lovers take note: scallops from the saltwater farm and fish raised by the school will soon be offered to the public at the restaurant/fish market in the new school addition.
